First, we discovered what can only be described as the Crazy Ant Gang hanging out on a scorching hot exhaust like they were on holiday in the Caribbean. 🌞
Then today, while carrying out a service on young Becky’s Clio, we made an even more unusual discovery… a rat. Not just any rat either. Half of it had turned to leather, half still had fur, and it was wedged in the most peculiar position just above the radiator cooling fan. 😳
Needless to say, neither of us volunteered for rat-removal duties. We are both absolutely petrified of rats, so we’ve very kindly left that honour for Becky’s dad. You’re welcome! 😂
At Lymm MOT Centre we expect oil filters, air filters and the occasional worn brake pad… but wildlife recovery wasn’t on this week’s job sheet.

This quirky classic Mini rolled onto the ramp looking adorable as ever… but with wheel widths just about matching the gap between the platforms. Safe to say there wasn’t much room for error 👀
At one point we were guiding it on with the concentration levels of an airport landing crew ✈️😂
Thankfully, the Mini behaved itself, nobody needed a change of trousers, and the MOT was completed successfully ✅🚗

A gang of ants were having what looked like a full-on summer holiday… ON a scorching hot exhaust silencer that had been running for ages. 🔥
Honestly, the exhaust was hot enough to cook a full English, yet these little lunatics were treating it like Benidorm beach in July. ☀️😂
Never seen anything like it in all our 15 months testing cars.
Either they’re the hardest ants in Cheshire… or they’ve completely lost the plot. 😅
One thing’s certain: if resilience was part of the MOT, they’d pass first time. 🚗✅

From 1 June 2026, fully electric goods vehicles between 3,500kg and 4,250kg DGW will move from the HGV annual testing regime to the Class 7 MOT scheme.
That means many electric vans — including panel vans, tippers, flatbeds and box vans — will no longer need a statutory HGV test and will instead require a Class 7 MOT, with the first test due after 3 years.
For businesses running electric commercial fleets, this is great news:

Star of the week has to be Ziggy, pictured here in all his cheeky glory. He made it VERY clear he was not leaving without his obligatory treat… and when we say clear, we mean LOUDLY clear 😂 Apparently, he’s not a fan of men dressed in black, but after a bit of persuasion (and a well-timed snack), we think we just about won him over.
